John is an Associate Solicitor in the Commercial Department specialising in Commercial Contracts, Intellectual Property and IT. Wider experience also involves areas of Charity Law, FCA compliance and Sports Law.
Johnâ€™s work predominantly relates to drafting, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts governing the provision of both goods and services to customers and suppliers alike (be it business to business â€˜B2Bâ€™ or business to consumer â€˜B2Câ€™). The types of contracts that he is involved in range from standard terms and conditions up to international trade agreements, involving both importing and exporting.
On a commercial contract basis John deals with agency and distribution; manufacturing agreements; consultancy agreements; construction projects; introducer agreements; and franchising amongst other bespoke matters.
John also regularly advises in relation to the identification, protection and exploitation of Intellectual Property and IT issues including digital compliance, software development and licensing agreements and support and maintenance contracts.
John works for a range of different clients across a variety of sectors, including SMEs, Education Providers, Local Authorities, Charities and Charitable Organisations, Sports Clubs and Housing Associations.

Dan joined Forbes in 2014 and is currently a trainee solicitor in the Commercial team, working towards qualification in March 2018. After graduating from the University of Warwick, Dan obtained a masterâ€™s degree in International and European Union law from the University of Lille II in France, and speaks French and German to a high level of fluency.
Before moving to specialise in Commercial law, Dan gained over two yearsâ€™ experience in insurance litigation, advising on the defence of high value, complex personal injury claims including employersâ€™ liability, public liability, and health and safety regulatory issues, which adds practical insight to his advice.
Dan advises on and drafts contracts including, amongst others, those for the provision of both goods and services (including both B2B and B2C contracts), commercial agency and franchise agreements, manufacturing and distribution. Dan also provides advice in relation to intellectual property, data protection and freedom of information, governance, charity law, procurement, joint ventures, and regulatory and compliance matters.
As part of the Commercial team, Dan works with a range of clients including PLCs, sports clubs, local authorities, educational institutions, housing associations, charities and SMEs.
