Cleaning tips to keep you busy at home...mysecretfairy full logo v2 1

If you want something to keep your mind off the crazy world we are currently living in, we can help you get your home spring cleaned to perfection.

These tips will give you the comfort of a germ-free home whilst using natural thrifty methods with equipment you can lay your hands on at home.

So put down the remote and get out your odd socks...

How to effectively clean your dishwasher naturally!

Place a cup of white wine vinegar in a dishwasher-safe container on the upper rack of the machine. Run the dishwasher through a hot cycle. This will wash away grease and grime and remove musty odours, too.

Did you know that a mattress can contain up to 10 million dust mites?

Vacuum your mattress when you change the sheets (or at least every 3 months) to reduce dust (this is much more effective if you have a HEPA rated vacuum like the Miele hoovers that My Secret Fairy use)

Use a mattress cover as these can help to protect against dust mites and other allergens and are easily removable and washable. It will also reduce the need to vacuum the mattress as often.

Struggling to clean your stainless steel fridge?

Mix white wine vinegar and water 40/60 mix, then spray directly onto the surface.

Check the direction of the grain and using a microfiber cloth polish off and see your fridge shine once more!

Simply mix Arm and Hammer baking soda with white wine vinegar to help lift dirt and make your sink shiny again.

Make a habit of cleaning your blinds/shutters each time you clean.
Avoid the hassle of deep cleaning your blinds by giving them a quick once over with either a feather duster, an anti-static duster or even a special slatted blind cleaner once a week.

Alternatively, pop an old sock on your hand and gently run it through the gaps of each blind for a nifty and thrifty clean, and to keep on top of the daily dust before it builds up. –

How often should I clean my microwave?

It’s a good idea to clean your microwave once a week or when obvious splatters spray the interior. It’s simple and easy to clean your microwave and if you follow the My Secret Fairy method, kind on you and the environment.

Clean your microwave with lemon and water - the natural way and your microwave will be left clean with a lovely fresh lemony smell.
1. Place a cup full of water into a microwaveable bowl.
2. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the lemon into the water and leave the squeezed lemon in the water.
3. Place the bowl into the microwave for 4 minutes, once finished leaving the bowl in the microwave for a further minute.
4. Remove the bowl and wipe down the inside of the microwave, watch the dirt and grease just slide of the surfaces.
